Maps & Makers – Representing Mines: Maps, their origins and outliers

Friday 12th September & Sunday 14th September 2014

The talk given by David Austin from Archaeology Department Lampeter University about the power underlying why maps were created and what they represent was a wonderful journey of our political history in terms of capitalist enquiry and statement. Over 30 people enjoyed the talk and on the Sunday over 25 people joined in to walk (not huge distances) across the Cwmystwyth mine area with a fantastic discovery through words and seeing what was actually there in the landscape by David Austin of the interpretation of this area from Bronze Age into current political interpretation of land.
