Opening Night: Saturday 21st Feburary 2015 6 – 8 pm
After a long career in book illustration and writing children’s books, Gini made a slight swerve into the world of printmaking. She took an MA at Aberystwyth School of Art (2007-2010) where she specialized in lithography with Paul Croft RE. In 2014 she was fortunate to be accepted onto the Summer Course at the Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque; the world centre of excellence for lithography.
She runs lithography workshops for the Sidney Nolan Trust, Herefordshire and Aberystwyth Printmakers. She has set up a small studio at home and continues to make prints there. After working to illustration briefs for so many years, she enjoys the freedom to choose her own subject matter.
Her prints have been exhibited worldwide and are held in the Wellcome Library, the V & A, the Hong Kong Printshop and the Contemporary Art Society for Wales collections. She also makes print animations. Stone Bone Boogie was shown at the Hong Kong Graphic Fiesta 2011, Gini was invited there to talk about her work and give a demonstration of lithography.
Her work draws on myths and dreams, dance and celebrations, with a dash of the dark side. She also contributes articles to Printmaking Today.
